Pipe Major Peter Boyle

On the 10th July 1926 a meeting was called at the Maryborough town hall with the principle aims to form a new Scottish society and pipe band.
Founding Members at this meeting were Inspector J. Mann, C. Woodward, T. Murray, D.S. Whyte, W. Milne, R. Blackley, Peter Boyle, A. Cunningham, J. McKenzie, J. Murdoch, A. Gillespie, I. Sutherland, J. Leck, E. Stewart, E. Murray, F. Babbington, J. Menzies, R. Laing, J. Bissett, N. Caitens, C. S. McConnell, R. J. Rillie, A. Hilliard, J. McRobert, W. G. Rendall, and J. Blackley. A local police constable Peter Boyle, originally an Aberdeenshire man was appointed the first Pipe Major of the Maryborough band. |

In conjunction with the Maryborough Caledonian Society's 100th Anniversary in 2026 the society is publishing a book on our history. This book will follow the society throughout its 100 years of service to the Maryborough and district communities and to pipe banding in Australia..
